Obituary for Marie Fischer
Ms. Marie Louise Fischer, age 88, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, Mo., surrounded by the love of her family.
Marie was born November 4, 1934 in Lohman, Mo., the daughter of John and Erma (Linsenbardt) Fischer.
A lifelong resident of Jefferson City, Mo., Marie graduated valedictorian from Russellville High School in Russellville, Mo., and then completed two years of college.
She was employed with the State of Missouri’s Division of Employment Security as a traveling court reporter, retiring after many years of service.
One of her great joys in life was spending time with her rescued feline friends, feeding them fresh cream, and enjoying their antics. She loved the outdoors, preferably viewed from her outdoor porch with strong coffee and all things chocolate from Hersheys to Godiva.
She also loved traveling across the U.S. from Alaska, to New York City to Phoenix, AZ – collecting picture books and souvenirs.
Survivors include: her brother, Gustav Fischer (Jeannette); nieces, Margie Sapanas, Christy Unekis (Michael), and Darla Linhardt (Michael); nephews, Devin Fischer (Stacey) and Mark Fischer; great nieces, Cassy Allee, Tanya Lindsey, Ashley Lee, Thea Fischer, Frederica Fischer and great nephew, Brian Unekis as well as her great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Margaret Fischer (age 4); her sisters, Gertrude Fischer and Dorothea Fischer; her brothers, Hilbert Fischer, Raymond Fischer, Alvin Fischer and Rudolph Fischer.
Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lohman, Mo., from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Interment will be conducted in the church cemetery immediately following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 15, Lohman, MO 65053.
