Obituary for Marie Love Jones Epps

Marie Love Jones Epps was born on July 11, 1940 in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Albert Samuel and Lee Eunice Jones.

She received her primary education in St. Louis Public School system.

Marie worked for many years at Barnes Hospital as a ward clerk. She began working with Bistate Transit as a driver, from which she retired after 17 years of service.

Marie was a member of Eastern Star. She was very creative and was a talented artist. She loved painting and crafts. She enjoyed traveling and especially to visit family and friends. Some of her favorite trips were to Boston and Las Vegas. Her fondest memories were spending time with her grandson, DeJoneiro. Marie was known for being a great confidant. She was incredibly comforting and everyone found it easy to open up to her. She will be remembered for her kind heart and always being willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed her.

Marie moved to the Jefferson City area in 2006 to be closer to her daughter.

She leaves to cherish in her memory two children, Toni Jones Grayson (Michael) and Byron Jones all of St. Louis, Mo.; a grandson, DeJoneiro Jones of St. Louis, Mo.; siblings, Benard Hill, Patricia Samuel, Mary Ann Samuel and Alford Samuel; three sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lawrence Jones.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Dignan officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
