Mrs. Marjorie Darlene Poire, 91, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.
She was born on January 7, 1929 in Bosworth, Mo., the daughter of Paul O. and Carrie “Verlee” (Dewey) Muller. She was married on April 5, 1947 in Chillicothe, Mo. to Louis Leroy Poire who preceded her in death on September 11, 2020.
Marjorie and Leroy were charter members of Concord Baptist Church where she prepared Wednesday night meals and volunteered in other various positions right up to her passing.
A loving mother and homemaker, Marjorie was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays. She was genuine, selfless and loving and everything she did revolved around her family. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards and bowling. She was known for her homemade pies, and made weekly deliveries to the VFW where they were always the first to be devoured.
Survivors include: her children, Connie Zagalik (Michael) of Kansas City, Mo., Richard Poire (Debbie) of Jefferson City, Mo.; David Poire (Shelly) of Jefferson City, Mo.; and daughter-in-law, Linda Poire of Jefferson City, Mo.; sisters, Dorene Miller, Louise Ahrenholtz, and Maye Wiemers; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great children; and many other friends and family who will miss her dearly.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 73 years; son, Ronnie Poire; and sister, Faye Nielson.
Visitation will be held at Concord Baptist Church from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating. Graveside services will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. The general public is welcome to attend while following social distancing guidelines.
A webcast of her service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday for friends that are not able to attend by going to her memorial page on Freeman Mortuary’s website.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Concord Baptist Church.
