Mr. Marvin George Engelbrecht, 90, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, as he entered his heavenly home the church bells sounded. That evening the star of Bethlehem reminded us of the promises fulfilled.
He was born on May 1, 1930 in Honey Creek, Mo., a son of Theodore and Anna (Heinrich) Engelbrecht. He was married on September 17, 1949 in Hickory Hill, Mo. to the love of his life Lola Williams who preceded him in death on October 9, 2008.
A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Marvin was a 1948 graduate of Eugene High School. He was employed with Fabick Cat as a heavy equipment mechanic for 35 years, retiring in 1994.
Marvin and Lola had a passion for square dancing in their younger days. They danced for the Circle Bob square dancing group throughout many states and even performed on the Ozark Opry. They could also be found looking for a garage sale and a good bargain.
Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at his lake house in Ivy Bend and fishing with them. Marvin loved camping and traveling to Pensacola, Fl. every summer, even stopping at garage sales on the way. You would find his little Chihuahua, Choco, always by his side and in most recent years the neighbor’s dog, Theo, would frequent his house for treats. He could also be found watching Cardinal baseball games and Missouri Tiger’s basketball but ONLY if they were winning! He could be found daily, weather permitting sitting on his front porch waving and talking with his neighbors or shooting squirrels off the bird feeders!
Survivors include: his children, Marvin Engelbrecht (Brenda) of Osage Beach, Mo., Cindy Thomeczek (Lee) of Linn, Mo., and Mike Engelbrecht (Brenda) of Jefferson City, Mo.; sisters, Geneva Williams (Wayne) of Lampe, Mo. and Myrene Zey (Claude) of Lincoln, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Melissa Snellen, Kori Campbell, Amanda Christian, Erin Coles, Clayton Engelbrecht, Chelle Hentges, and Annabeth Thomeczek; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 59 years, Lola; and siblings, Ralph Engelbrecht, Lucille Engelbrecht and Doris Vestal.
