Obituary for Mary A. Baumgartner

Mary Ann Baumgartner, 79, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2020.

She was born on August 9, 1940 in California, Mo. a daughter of Fred Floyd Wiggins and Anna Ruth Surface. Mary and her siblings were raised in Jefferson City where she attended Jefferson City Public Schools.

Mary will be remembered as a wonderful mother and mammy who loved unconditionally and held strong beliefs in traditional family values. Mammy created a warm and welcoming home. She will be remembered for “Mammy Mondays”, being the heart of holiday gatherings, and rocking babies, especially all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved reading, singing, bird-watching, going to the farm, but most of all being with the people she loved.

Survivors include: her children, Cindy Baumgartner (significant other, Kevin McDaniel) of Jefferson City, Danny Baumgartner (Kim) of Jefferson City, and Donna Kolb (Mark) of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Danielle Heimericks (Cody), Cole Baumgartner, Jayme Baumgartner, Ashley Green (Chris), Lindsey Kolb, Emily Kolb, Chloe Kolb and Justin Kolb; great-grandchildren, Hudson and Addy Jo Heimericks, and Trenton Green; siblings, Dorothy Giesing of Jefferson City, Tom Wiggins (Arlene) of Raytown, Roger Wiggins (Lorraine) of Jefferson City, Floyd Wiggins of Jefferson City, and Patsy Reichard (Jim) of Jefferson City; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother-in-law, Carl Giesing and great-nephew, Braden Bax.

Private family services will be held and she will be laid to rest in the family plot at Riverview Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be announced when restrictions for gathering have been lifted.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
