Obituary for Mike Rummerfield

Michael Dean Rummerfield, age 71, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at Oak Tree Villas surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born November 5, 1951, in Tulare, California, one of four children born to Gerald Victor and Beatrice Pearl (Stout) Rummerfield.

He was a 1969 graduate of Tulare Union High School, and it was during that time he met the love of his life, Barbara Warren. They were united in marriage on April 10, 1976, and shared 45 years together before her passing on December 27, 2021.

Mike resided in California for a substantial period, initially working at Carnation Creamery in warehousing and delivery. However, he later transitioned to being self-employed, venturing into food distribution sales with "Tom’s Candy" and assuming a general contractor role in house construction.

In 2005, due to deteriorating health, Mike's family relocated to Missouri as he joined the liver transplant list. The awaited moment arrived in 2006 when Barnes Jewish Hospital notified him of a matching liver, and he underwent the life-saving transplant.

During his youth, Mike embodied a "free spirit" mentality, allowing the wind to guide his path. Over time, his free-spirited nature merged with his profound faith as he delved into the study of scriptures and pursued ordination as a minister. During his time in California, Mike established his own ministry, imparting the teachings of the gospel to residents of local nursing homes. At First Assembly of God in Jefferson City, he actively participated, cherishing the chance to deliver his personal testimony during a sermon. Witnessing his grandson's baptism this past week brought immense joy to his soul.

Mike’s hobbies included fishing, camping, cooking, and studying the Bible. He always looked forward to time trout fishing with his son, Lee, and being outdoors with family. He appreciated watching any type of sporting event on the television with the volume as loud as he could get away with. Mike loved to travel and was a huge fan of the west coast and the mountains ranges. When he was younger, he would hop on his motorcycle and just drive around taking in the scenic views. Above all, he found immense joy in pursuing his hobbies alongside his beloved family.

Survivors include: his loving son, Lee Rummerfield and wife Angie; two grandchildren, Evan and Madison Rummerfield, all of Holts Summit, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barb; and three siblings, Bruce Rummerfield, Barbara Ann Rummerfield, and Gerry Rummerfield.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the Diane Peck Memorial Sanctuary of Riverview Cemetery with the Reverend Lowell Perkins officiating.
