Obituary for Mildred L. Steidley

Mildred Louise Steidley, age 91 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Moniteau Care Center in California, Mo.

Mildred was born July 20, 1928 in Springdale, Ar., the daughter of Joseph and Sophia (Scribner) Turner. She was married on December 30, 1950 to Edward Daniel Steidley who preceded her in death on November 23, 2007.

Mildred was a homemaker for the majority of her life and took great pride in caring for her family. She helped her husband on their farm near Grove Springs, Mo. for many years. From that experience on the farm, Mildred had an incredible work ethic and was never afraid to milk a cow, plant the vegetable garden or her favorite flowers, and help with any other daily task. She was an amazing cook and made sure none of her kids ever went hungry, especially making sure to bake a nice dessert for many of their meals.

In her free time, she was an avid reader and loved to sew. She was proud to belong to a Quilting Group many years ago and she continued to quilt throughout her life. Many of her quilts were given to family and friends as a gift. She was fond of animals and there was always a dog near on the farm. Her favorite was Tinkerbell and she considered her part of their family.

Survivors include: four children, Elaine Steidley of Sacramento, Ca., Steve Steidley (wife Robin) of Lebanon, Mo., Sue Eberwein (husband Allan) of Jefferson City, Mo. and Kurt Steidley of Sedalia, Mo.; two sisters, Billie Ann Knight of Springfield, Il. and Donnie Neely of Zanoni, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, David, Elicia, Stevie, Kevin, Keith, Kirby, Kim, Natascha, Casey, Christina, Erik, and Jennifer; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 57 years, Edward Steidley; two sons, Dan Steidley and an infant son, Leslie Steidley; one grandson, Dustin Waterfield; one granddaughter, Kimberly Steidley; one brother, Howard Crouch; and one sister, Hazel Lykins.

A private service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Jefferson City Animal Shelter, 2308 Hyde Park Road, Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary.
