Obituary for Nancy Massie

Mrs. Nancy Ann Massie, age 72 years, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Saturday, June 8, 2019 at her home.

She was born on January 13, 1947 in Columbia, Mo. the daughter of Perry Jennings and Norma Lavern (Hartley) Hudspeth. She was married on February 17, 1982 in Belleville, Ill. to Maurice Don Massie who survives in the home.

A dedicated homemaker, Nancy loved caring for her family. Nothing brought her more joy than the company of her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, when they were around, Nancy was sure to be wearing a smile. Nancy had a great appreciation for nature, she enjoyed gardening, watching the birds and other wildlife near her home, and taking motorcycle rides to soak in the scenery. She was even known to bring back a cool rock as a souvenir from most of her trips. Nancy kept to herself, she was quiet and loved just being in her own home relaxing where she was comfortable, but she had a sincere love for everyone she encountered in her life. Her favorite saying was “I love you from the bottom of my heart!”

Survivors include: her husband of 37 years, Maurice Don Massie; two children, Shelia D. Hughes of Jefferson City, Mo., and William D. Wolfe of Lakeland, Florida; three step children, Don Massie (wife Heather) of Paragould, Arkansas, Morgan Massie (wife Roxanne) of Friendswood, Texas, and Michael Massie (wife Deanna) of Dripping Springs, Texas; one brother, Dwight J. Hudspeth of Mexico, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, Brandy Hughes (Fiance Ben Parks), Amanda Hughes, Jesse Hughes (wife Chelsea), Trey Hughes (FIance Jessica Patton) Blake Selby, Carissa Selby, Dakota Selby, Sierra Selby, Amber Wolfe, Walter Roark, Kyrin Martin, Tymothy Wolfe, and Randi Wolfe; seven great grandchildren, Vinny, Wyatt, Chevy, Remington, Bently, Stormy and Raina; nine step grandchildren; many beloved maternal cousins in Columbia, Mo. and paternal cousins in North Carolina; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Angela C. Selby; an infant son, Jaime Selby; two sisters, Betty Buford and Carol Drinkard; and two brothers, Richard Alan Hudspeth and Mark W. Hudspeth.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Mo.

A celebration of life service will follow the visitation at 11:00 am with the Reverend Shane Crum officiating. Inurnment will be conducted at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens at 1:00 pm.
