Obituary for Naomi Vetter

Naomi Joan Vetter, age 81, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Heisinger Bluffs.

She was born on March 4, 1941 in Jefferson City, to the late Adolph and Theresa (Erhardt) Sommerer. She was married June 9, 1962 to Louis Hugo Vetter, who survives at the home.

Naomi was a graduate of the University of Missouri – Columbia and a substitute teacher in the area. She was a legislative assistant in the Missouri House of Representatives for 23 years.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the IC Circle and the Immaculata Club. Naomi served in both the 4-H Club and Cub Scout programs, Sweet Adeline’s and was a volunteer at the Wolfner Memorial Library for the blind. She enjoyed her card groups, sewing, oil painting and travel, and was fortunate to have traveled to all 7 continents and 49 states.

She is also survived by: two daughters, Tracy Vetter (husband, Curtis Allen) and Tiffany Vetter (husband, Chris Petro) of Overland Park; five sons, Gregory Vetter (wife, Irene Kosturakis) of Houston, Philip Vetter of Jefferson City, Derrick Vetter (wife, Barbara Gaines) of Lohman, and Darren Vetter of Las Vegas; and 5 grandchildren, Kaymen, Dalton, and Prescott Vetter, and Quintin and Karina Allen.

She was preceded in death by: her son, Vincent Vetter; daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Vetter; four sisters, Elizabeth Williams, Lilliam Kuegele, Marjorie Beck and Anna Beatrice Putnam; and three brothers, Erhardt Sommerer, Felix Sommerer and Mahlon Sommerer.

At Naomi's request, her body was donated to science through the University of Missouri. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
