Obituary for Neil Scully

Neil Lawrence Scully, age 83, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Mo.

He was born on April 25, 1939 in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Lawrence Joseph and Georgia Anna (Andrews) Scully.

Neil was an intelligent man and a committed student. He attended St. Louis University High school and later, was proud to study accounting at St. Louis University earning his degree in 1961.

For many years, Neil worked with the Social Security Disability Administration for the state of Missouri.

Neil was a dedicated member of the Elks Lodge where he was honored as Exalted Ruler. He was also a man of strong faith and was happy to serve as the head of the finance commission for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City.

He loved spending time with his dogs: a Schnauzer, Henry, and Shih-Tzu, Brenden. Neil was a natural born leader who was attentive to detail and had a mind for finance. He took regular trips to the Lake of the Ozarks for relaxing weekends and often traveled for work, which he enjoyed.

Neil is survived by: his brother, John Scully (wife, Lois) of St. Louis, Mo.

Neil is preceded in death by: his parents, Lawrence and Georgia.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Freeman Mortuary.

Another visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2022 at Freeman Mortuary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Reverend Don Antweiler officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Doctors without Borders.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary.
