Obituary for Patricia Ann Schulte

Patricia Ann “Pat” Schulte, age 82, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, January 27, 2022, after a long illness.

Pat was born on March 22, 1939, in Jefferson City, to Charles and Clara (Welch) Owsley. She was married on November 15, 1985, in Jefferson City to Maurice Richard Schulte who survives at the home.

Pat attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and was a member of the first graduating class of Helias Catholic High School in 1956.

She worked for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local #945, for 35 years until her retirement in 2000. She especially enjoyed representing labor on committees and boards such as United Way, City of Jefferson Advisory Arbitration Panel, Central Labor Council, and the AFL-CIO.

A lifelong Democrat, Pat first became active in politics in 1961 and served as the Third Ward Democratic Committee woman for 25 years. She was a delegate to the 1988 State Convention, attended the National Democratic Convention in Boston and, along with her husband, received the 14th Annual James T. Blair Award in 2000. Pat was also active with the Cole County Historical Society, the Eagles Auxiliary Club, Heart of Missouri Good Sam Club, and the Jaycee Auxiliary.

Family was Pat’s first priority, and she selflessly gave her time and love to them, as well as many good friends and neighbors whom she treated like family. She loved planning, hosting and cooking for large gatherings and special occasions. She also enjoyed the RV life, travelling all over the United States with her husband and spending their winters in Pharr, Texas.

Survivors include her loving husband of 36 years, Maurice Schulte; four children, Pamela Grothaus (David), Michele Bruemmer (Mark), Rodney Schulte (Lucy), and Debra Bradshaw (Jeff); seven grandchildren, Shannon Grothaus, Matthew Grothaus, Elizabeth Burns (Jay), Clayton Bruemmer (Kimberly), Amanda McGrath (Erin), Danielle Coppola (Matt), and Ashley Balantine (Brian); five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her father, Charles Owsley, and mother, Clara Owsley; and two siblings, James Owsley and Betty Kelly.
