Obituary for Patsy Holland (Loethen)
Mrs. Patsy Ruth Holland, 92, of Holts Summit, Mo. passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.
She was born August 7, 1927 in Jefferson City, Mo. a daughter of Cecil and Bessie (Anglin) Loethen. She was married May 19, 1944 to George James Holland Sr. who preceded her in death September 14, 1997.
Together they raised six children and their growing families became her life purpose. A smile would always cross her face when she would reflect on her children, cooking with them, playing with the grandkids, and even trips to the casino. Patsy was at her happiest when her family was together, laughing, eating, and having fun. Her home was the gathering place for multiple generations with holiday celebrations, parties and Sunday dinners. Never one to want the spotlight, Patsy demonstrated her love by her work behind the scenes: planting a large vegetable garden and sharing the harvest with neighbors and relatives, and instilling in her children a strong family heritage of love and much laughter.
Survivors include: her children, George J. Holland Jr. (Linda Ann) of Holts Summit, Mo., Mary Jane Shipley (Buddy) of Jefferson City, Mo., Cecil T. Holland of New Bloomfield, Mo., Belinda F. Chauvin of Jefferson City, Mo., and Linda K. Asher of Holts Summit, Mo.; grandchildren, Patsy Heusted (Bill), Mary Bates (Steve), Anthony Holland (Stephanie), Christina Nash (James), Sean Duty (Kelsie), Jenifeer Jaco (Jay), Brandi Williams (Cecil), and Megan Asher; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; her daughter, Georgia Rains; her grandson, Jeremy Holland; her sons-in-law, Joseph Chauvin and Steve Asher; her brothers, Bobbie Loethen and Harry Loethen; and her sisters, Bonnie Campbell, Margaret Raithel, Nellie Woods, and Faye Hopkins.
A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Frank Whitney officiating. By request of the family, all those planning to attend will be required to wear gloves and a mask as a courtesy to those family members who are considered high risk. Freeman Mortuary will have personal protective equipment available.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Missouri VFW, or the Callaway Hills Animal Shelter.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
