Patsy Kay Wilson Hood, age 84, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully in her home with family on Thursday, May 20th, 2021.
Patsy was born on September 2, 1936, in Crane, Mo., the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Fugitt and Flossie Ann (Rickman) Fugitt. On June 12, 1954, she married Isaac “Earl” Wilson with whom she shared two children. On November 6, 1987, she married Emmett Hood, who survives.
Patsy attended Hurley R-1 High School and soon after began a lifelong career as a hairdresser. She worked in a number of salons in and around Jefferson City until operating a shop in her home until retirement. She truly cherished the friendships she made with her customers and loved helping people feel beautiful and confident.
Well-known for her cooking and baking talents, Patsy loved spoiling her family with homecooked treats. She had a rule that no one would leave her home hungry. Her famous cinnamon rolls, among countless other baked goodies, will never be forgotten.
While every holiday was made special with a huge spread done entirely by her, Christmas was her absolute favorite time of year. She would decorate every inch of the house and make dozens of varieties of Christmas cookies to share. Most importantly, she believed in always thinking of those in need and would deliver home cooked meals to those who were alone during the holidays.
Patsy was a woman of God and a member of First Baptist Church. She could be found singing gospel hymns while cooking meals, studying scripture, and honoring God by walking through life with unwavering faith. Friends and family knew Patsy’s door was always open for counseling, especially for advice pertaining to love and heartbreak. For every problem, she believed in the power of prayer to solve it.
Patsy delighted in spoiling her family in their younger years with shopping trips and by hosting sleepovers and social parties for them and their friends. In recent years, her great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, along with her beloved Eskimo dog, Prancer.
Patsy truly was the heart of her family. She will be remembered best for her warmth, her quick and hilarious wit, her strong sense of self, her words of wisdom, and being the best Granny there ever was. She lived her life by what her Daddy taught her, “Do what is right, and it’ll come out right.”
Her pure love and heart of gold will live on in the hearts of her family and friends who cherished her so.
Other survivors include: two children, Gregory Wilson and Gwen Wilson, both of Jefferson City, Mo; a brother, Jack Fugitt of Crane, Mo.; three grandchildren, Ryne Wilson (wife Julie), Carly Wilson and Brie Boessen; three great-grandchildren, Auburn Wilson, Collins Wilson, Bourne Scherr, soon to arrive, Nelli Scherr; and her dog, Prancer.
