Obituary for Paul Rathmann

Paul Edwin Rathmann, age 65, of Jefferson City, MO passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at his residence.

Paul was born August 28, 1957, the third son of Robert and Florine (Baack) Rathmann in Austin, MN near the family farm on which he grew up.

He attended Trinity Waltham and Holy Cross Lutheran Schools in Austin, MN and graduated from Hayfield High School, Hayfield, MN in 1975. Following two years of college at Concordia University in St. Paul, MN, he worked in the oil fields of Wyoming. He worked in construction for private companies as well as the Carpenters Union for many years. Later in life he worked as a maintenance supervisor at various nursing homes in the surrounding Jefferson City areas.

On March 8, 1986, he married Brenda (Propst) Rathmann and together they raised four children.
Paul was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church being involved in Bible studies, serving as an elder and other miscellaneous positions. He had a very strong faith in God and tried to witness to others of his Lord and Savior, Jesus.

He enjoyed riding and training horses, hunting, fishing, traveling and sharing time with family and friends.

Survivors include: his wife Brenda of 36 years; son, Samuel (Mary Kate) Rathmann of Jefferson City, MO; and daughters Stacy Bandelier, Jefferson City, MO and Nicole (Tom) Dixon of Niangua, MO. Seven grandchildren: grandsons Jodie (Jessie) Means of Jefferson City, MO; Travis Dixon, Joshua Dixon and Daniel Dixon of Niangua, MO; and granddaughters Katelynn Dixon and Sarah Dixon of Niangua, MO and Anna Claire Rathmann, Jefferson City, MO and another on the way. One brother Rodney (Dawn) Rathmann of Eureka, MO, brothers-in-law, Richard Propst, Jeffrey (Gayla) Propst, Greg (Sandra) Propst all of Jefferson City; sisters-in-law, Lisa Binkley, Jefferson City, MO; Ramona (Brad) Hagerman, Henley, MO and Annette (Landon) Oxley of Holts Summit, MO. He also had many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Frank Rathmann; nephew Nicholas Rathmann; daughter JoAnna Baysinger; mother and father-in-law, Kenneth and Doris Propst; and brother-in-law Bill Binkley.

Visitation will be held at Faith Lutheran Church from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2022.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran church with the Reverend Gerald Scheperle officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
