Obituary for Richard Dippold

Richard William Dippold, age 39, of Russellville, formerly of Vienna, Mo. passed away Tuesday, Mach 14, 2023.

He was born on June 25, 1983, in Jefferson City, Mo., a son of Robert John Dippold, Jr. and Faith Ann (Welch) Trower. He was married to Jenifer Woodruff on June 25, 2010, to this union two of his three sons were born. They later divorced and Richard met his current partner, Katriona Honse who survives in the home.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, he was a 2002 graduate of Blair Oaks High School. Richard went on to work for O’Reilly Auto Parts in Jefferson City for ten years. Some may recognize his playful smile from behind the counter or may have been on the receiving end of an ornery joke at Passing Gas, the gas station in Russellville, which he managed. Richard was currently working as a blaster at Pro Powder Coating in Russellville.

He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Richard had an unmatched sense of humor, a contagious laugh and a big personality. His presence commanded attention and respect but his goofy sarcastic demeanor made him approachable and set others at ease. He was a practical jokester, known for pranks such as super gluing a quarter to the floor of the gas station so he could sit back and thoroughly enjoy watching customers try to pick it up. He was an avid bow hunter, enjoying the peace of the outdoors and loved to go outside to “whack” golf balls as far as he could hit them. Richard had a gift for shooting pool and always came armed with his lucky pool que, ready to place bets and show no mercy. He was creative and artistic, carving deer antler knives, arrow heads, wooden walking sticks and more. His sons will carry memories of working on projects together such as welding a figurine of a man together using small pieces scrap metal.

Richard was a free-spirited outlaw at heart, especially in his younger years, but nothing softened his heart more than his sons. They were the highlight of his life and his top priority. He was an understanding and attentive father and held an immense sense of pride to be blessed enough to be their dad. Richard was a happy, helpful, and supportive man with a quick wit. His love for his family was unceasing and his boundless spirit was magnetic. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include: his three sons, Devin Dippold of Russellville, Mo., Hunter Dippold of Russellville, Mo., and Gage Dippold of West Des Moines, Ia.; his long-time girlfriend, Katy Honse of Russellville, Mo.; his parents, Faith Trower, and Robert Dippold; brother, Michael Dippold (Shannon) of Taos, Mo.; nephews, Sawyer Dippold and Michael Backues; aunts and uncles, Larry and Wendy Dippold, Rita and Tom Lindenbusch, and Brenda and Mark Hood; cousin, Cole Dippold; and the family cat whom he reluctantly tolerated, Tuffers.
