Obituary for Richard Sundermeyer

Richard Wray Sundermeyer, age 62, of New Bloomfield, Mo. passed away Friday, November 18, 2022.

He was born on January 7, 1960 in Jefferson City, Mo. the son of Frederick William and Elva Elizabeth (Wray) Sundermeyer. He was married on May 15, 2004 in New Bloomfield, Mo. to Glenda Ann Kemple. Glenda survives in the home.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Rick was a 1978 graduate of New Bloomfield High School.

Rick began working with Mark’s Mobile Glass and started his career in Law enforcement with the Missouri Department of Corrections. He later took a position with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff. Rick then worked as a bartender at the Sundowner Saloon until declining health forced his retirement.

When he was young, Rick was involved in the New Bloomfield 4-H program and enjoyed hunting. As he grew older, he began to prefer the slow reflective nature of fishing. Being raised on a farm, he had a love for animals that carried throughout his entire life. Rick was a very talented musician and had a gift for vocals and playing the guitar. He was even a valued member of a band by the name of Blue Ribbon Band. His creativity stretched beyond music and into woodworking, crafting and refurbishing beautiful furniture and other pieces. He kept his mind sharp by reading, especially enjoying westerns.

Perhaps the most notable aspect of Ricks personality is his sense of humor. He had a quick wit and seemed to have a joke for every occasion. He was an intelligent, loving and caring man who had a soft spot for children and loved to make them laugh. He had a giving heart and made himself available to help anyone who needed him. He was a dedicated and dependable husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
