Obituary for Robert Crede

Mr. Robert J. Crede, age 81 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, June 17, 2019 at his home.

Bob was born May 2, 1938 in Jefferson City, Mo. the son of Clarence “Bud” and Emmeline (Bubach) Crede.

A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Bob graduated from Cole County R-5 in Eugene, Mo. and Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo. with a degree in Business Administration.

Bob served in the United States Army Reserve in 1961.

He was employed with Exchange National Bank, later known as Hawthorn Bank for forty-one years retiring as Vice -President and Trust Officer in 2001.

Bob was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Brazito and past president of the Church Consistory.

Bob was active as a Mason for many years and served as Grand Master of the Missouri Ancient Free and Accepted Masons from 1983 until 1984. He was a member of the Hickory Hill Lodge No. 211, A.F. & A.M.; the Jefferson City Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons; the Ezra Council No. 32, Cryptic Masons; the Prince of Peace Commandery No. 29, Knight Templar; the Capital Shrine Club; the Moolah Temple; the Columbia Capital Scottish Rite; and the Order of the Eastern Star in Eugene.

He was very civic minded and involved with numerous organizations throughout Cole County. He was a past board member of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce; a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board; the Riverview Cemetery Association Board of Directors; and the Jay Football Booster Club. He was a charter member of the Brazito-Honey Creek Lions Club and served as Treasurer for many years. Bob was a 4-H Club member for many years and served as Treasurer of the 4-H Camp Association.

One of Bob’s passions was volunteering with Capital Region Medical Center during his retirement. He cherished the relationships he made from over 10,000 hours volunteered with the hospital. For his efforts he was awarded the “Volunteer of the Year Award” in 2016 by the Partners Program.

Survivors include: several cousins and numerous special friends, especially Shirley Hutinger of Jefferson City, Mo., Greg Hutinger (wife Christy) of Sedalia, Mo. and Terry Linville of Jefferson City, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and pseudo brother, Hugh Hutinger.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 with a Masonic Service being conducted at 11:45 a.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Carole A. Barner officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Capital Region Partners, P.O. Box 1128, Jefferson City, Mo. 65102.
