Obituary for Rusty Schaefer
Russell Joseph “Rusty” Schaefer, age 64, of Henley, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 at his home.
Rusty was born on December 5, 1957, the son of Ervin Herman and Dorothy Marie (Sellmeyer) Schaefer.
Rusty was employed for over 50 years with blasting and quarry work that started in his teenage years. He worked the majority of the time at Capital Quarries with blasting and operating heavy machinery. In his free time, Rusty was an amazing mechanic and prided himself on being able to fix any car. He loved tinkering restoring old cars and sports cars in his shop. One of Rusty’s prize possessions was a red Chevrolet Chevelle with classic black racing stripes.
Rusty also enjoyed auto racing, watching NASCAR and playing pool with his friends. When his kids were younger, he enjoyed fishing with his boys.
Survivors include: three sons, Josh Schaefer (Sarah) of Jefferson City, Mo., Patrick Schaefer of Clark, Mo. and Andrew Schaefer of Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers, Darren Schaefer (Rita) of Belle, Mo. and Roger Schaefer (Judy) of Columbia, Mo.; one sister, Cindy Oser (Robert) of Glasgow, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Riley and Henry Schaefer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Dorothy.
Private family services will be held at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Russell Schaefer Memorial Fund by mailing donations to P.O. Box 95, Jefferson City, Mo. 65102.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary.
