Obituary for Ruth S. Boyce

Mrs. Ruth Sharon Boyce, age 72, of Holts Summit, Mo. passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at Capital Region Medical Center.

Ruth was born on December 6, 1947 in Tebbetts, Mo. a daughter of Herod L. and Nellie P. (Branch) Stafford. She was married on December 29, 1973 in Holts Summit, Mo. to Paul Cecil Boyce, who survives.

A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Ruth was a 1967 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She was employed as a sales tax clerk with the Missouri Department of Revenue for over 20 years until her retirement in 2009.

She attended Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Holts Summit, Mo. where she and Paul were married.

Ruth was born into a large family and she always enjoyed gatherings and holidays, especially Sunday dinners at her parent’s house. She had a great sense of humor and a smile that could light up a room. She enjoyed traveling to visit her daughter in Europe and Japan and also Alaskan cruises with Paul. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her spoiled cat, Mia.

Survivors include: her husband of 46 years, Paul Boyce; children, Sarah Miller (Jim) of Reno, Nevada and Kurtis Boyce of Holts Summit, Mo.; grandchildren, Caleb Miller and Toby Miller; siblings, Lorine Smith, Sonny Stafford, Stanley Stafford (Flora), Berneice Grotewiel (Kenneth), Maxie Autenrieth, Braxie Huff and Vicki Languell (Larry); and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Veda Childress; brothers-in-law, Frank Smith, Kennard Autenrieth, and Lloyd Huff; and sister-in-law, Sue Stafford.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2020. The general public is welcome to attend the visitation while following social distancing guidelines and the family would like to encourage anyone attending to wear a mask.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2020 in the Freeman Chapel with Pastor Marion Mitchell of the Oak Chapel Missionary Church of Guthrie, Mo. officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Summit Memorial Gardens in Holts Summit, Mo.

A webcast of Ruth’s service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday for friends that are not able to attend by going to the "photos and videos" tab of this page and scrolling down the the webcasting link.
