Obituary for Ruth Payne

Mrs. Ruth Elsie Payne, age 95 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Stonebridge Senior Living – Westphalia Hills, Westphalia, Mo.

Ruth was born on December 7, 1924 in Bammental, Germany, a daughter of Karl and Marie (Metz) Kase. She was married on October 4, 1945 in Columbia, Mo. to Kenneth D. Payne who preceded her in death on December 2, 2005.

When Ruth was a very young child, her family moved to the United States; entering the Country via Ellis Island, New York in 1925. She grew up American, however, within a very traditional German home. From that time on, Ruth’s family lived in Jefferson City, where she graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1943.

Ruth was a lifelong Homemaker. She loved her family and dedicated her life to them. Her relationships with her husband, children and grandchildren were unbreakable. Ruth was an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a kind and caring person who will be greatly missed.

Ruth enjoyed the outdoors and gardening and was never one who enjoyed sitting still. She was an avid fan of the Jefferson City Jays Football Team and the University of Missouri Columbia Men’s Basketball Team. She could often be found cooking, visiting her neighbors or holding basement sales. She enjoyed taking trips with her husband, and cherished the time she spent at home.

Ruth was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Alumni Association.

Survivors include: daughters, Paula Hildebrandt (George) of Crystal River, Fl., Karla Boucher of Jefferson City, Mo., and Janet Libbert (Randy) of Wardsville, Mo; brother, Erick Kase (Carol) of Defiance, Mo.; four grandchildren, Gary Hildebrandt, Craig Hildebrandt, Angie (Boucher) Adair, and Paige Libbert; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Kenneth; sisters, Annaliese Durham and Luise Miyahara; brother, Karl Kase, Jr.; and grandson, Doug Boucher.

Services will be held at the Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel on Friday, December 4, 2020 at10:00 am; Dr. Penny Ross-Corona officiating. Chapel capacity is limited. Face masks are required.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Samaritan Center or the Jefferson City Humane Society.
