Obituary for Shirley Richards
Shirley Jane Richards, age 85, formerly of Russellville, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at her home in Cape Coral, Florida.
She was born on June 1, 1937 in Russellville, Mo., the daughter of Alfred and Emma (Schoch) Niederwimmer. She was married on November 9, 1985 in Arlington Heights, Illinois, to Ovid Roy Richards, who survives of the home.
Growing up in Central Missouri, Shirley graduated from Russellville High School. She went on to earn degrees from both Lincoln University and the Conservatory of Music – Kansas City.
Shirley was a licensed realtor; selling homes for REMAX of Barrington and Professional Advantage Realty for 30 years. She was a member of the National Association of Realtors.
Shirley was a member of the Fishers of Men Lutheran Church, where she was an organist and choir director for many years and served in her final church service Easter 2022.
In addition to her love of music, she enjoyed gardening and flowers. She had many fond memories of horseback riding at their farm, but her most cherished were the births of her children, her marriage to Ovid and getting her dog, Buckey.
Survivors include: her husband of 36 years, Ovid Richards; and her children, Susan Wireman and J. Kevin Wireman, both of Fort Myers, Florida.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her five siblings.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Russellville, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
