Obituary for Skylar W. Smock

Skylar William Smock, 26, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Friday, November 26, 2022.

He was born on June 8, 1996 in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of Harold William and Beverly Joyce (Elshoff) Smock. Skylar was a 2014 graduate of Swansea High School and attended Iowa Lakes Community College.

Skylar spent most of his childhood in South Carolina where he developed a deep love for the beach. He later relocated to Jefferson City for a change of scenery not knowing he would create a “Missouri family” full of great friends, patrons and coworkers. Skylar was a self-taught Chef and Bartender and he turned those skills into a successful career working in various establishments in Jefferson City.

Skylar was a gentle giant with a big heart. To know him was to love him. He was a doting father to his daughter, Adalyn and was an amazing son, brother and friend. There was never a dull moment with Skylar, and he was always the life of the party. With his great sense of humor, and carefree outlook on life, it was easy to yell, “Hell yeah, brother!” right along with him. He was a member, founder and president of the “White Claw Crew”, a HUGE 49ers fan (gang gang niner gang) and without any hesitation, he would race anything with a motor, and usually win. His legacy will live on through his daughter, who was the very most important thing in his life, and his memory will live on in those who were blessed to have Skylar in their lives.

Survivors include: his parents, Harold Smock of Maquoketa, IA and Beverly Smock of Delmar, IA; sister, Shelby Smock of Delmar, IA; daughter, Adalyn Smock and her mother, Destinee Milton of Jefferson City; significant other, Lauren Williams and her children, Kara, Austin, and Hunter of Jefferson City; grandparents, Barb and Pat Cole, Dorie and Martin Smock and Joe and Valerie Tompkins; along with aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his great aunt, Kay Elsoff; and great uncles, Larry, Don and Randy Elsoff.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 2:00 until 4:00 pm Thursday, December 1, 2022. A celebration of life will be held at Bones Banquet Room Thursday following the service from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
