Obituary for Stephany Balcer

Stephany Dale Balcer, age 87, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Summit Villa.

She was born on March 10, 1933 in Cole County, Mo., a daughter of Herbert Christopher and Charlotte Josephine (Dulle) Vanderfeltz. She was married on October 16, 1954 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Henry Conrad Balcer, who preceded her in death in October of 2002.

A lifelong resident of Jefferson City, Stephany graduated from St. Peters High School in 1951. She was employed at Charles E. Still Osteopathic Hospital for over 35 years. She worked in a number of facets, eventually retiring as a medical staff coordinator. She was proud to have founded their Medical Records Department in 1954. After a short retirement, she went to work as manager at her daughter’s medical practice for over 10 years. Their patients loved to visit with her and she was quite ahead of her time – bringing her dog Millie to the office as their very own therapy dog.

Stephany enjoyed the outdoors and loved to reap the benefits of working on the family farm. She worked hay, ran the cows and horses, drove the tractor and loved the results she could see after brush hogging. Stephany also did embroidery work and enjoyed traveling. Some of her favorite memories were moving out West with Charlotte and their several recent “bucket list trips” finding a love for the mountains later in life.

Survivors include her children, Dr. Charlotte Andersen (Randy Barnes) and Dr. Conrad Balcer (Karen), both of Jefferson City, Mo.; her grandchildren; and her niece and nephews.

Stephany was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Mark Henry Balcer; her only sister, Sonya Hollingsworth; and several of her beloved fox terriers.

Private family services will be held.
