Obituary

Sydney N. Schrag, age 19 years, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

Sydney was born on March 27, 2000 in Jefferson City, Mo. a daughter of Christopher Len and Kari Lynn (Oligschlaeger) Schrag Estes.

Sydney attended both Jefferson City High School and Helias where she enjoyed playing soccer. She graduated from Mandeville High School in 2017. She worked at Oscar’s Restaurant since she was fourteen and was recently employed with Mod Pizza. Sydney was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Sydney was an artistic and creative soul. Her love for photography was apparent by all of her selfies and posts on social media. The camera loved her as much as she loved it. She most recently enjoyed painting and expressing her creativity. She enjoyed soccer in Camdenton and Jefferson City, but truly loved hanging out with her friends in the hotels while traveling. Sydney also loved to snow ski – she was a natural.

Sydney’s escape was music which reflected her free-spirited personality. Her taste in music ranged from country, pop, alternative and even rap. She attended nearly a dozen musical festivals in six different states over the last three years. She will be most remembered for always brightening a room with her beautiful smile and contagious laughter. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include: her mother, Kari L. Estes (husband Jamie) of Jefferson City, Mo; her father, Chris Schrag (wife Carmen) of Mandeville, La.; three siblings, Tyler Schrag of Mandeville, La., Emma Schrag of Jefferson City, Mo. and Dylan Estes of Jefferson City, Mo.; two step-brothers, Angel Alejandro Hernandez and Angel Alexander Hernandez; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Carla Oligschlaeger of Jefferson City, Mo.; her paternal grandfather, Len Schrag (wife Patty) of Camdenton, Mo.; her step-grandmother, Jacquie Estes of Jefferson City, Mo.; her step-grandfather, Jim Estes (wife Sally) of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; maternal great-grandmother, Irene Voss of Loose Creek, Mo. and honorary grandmother, Kate Hoss of Omaha, Ne.; aunts and uncles, Justin Oligschlaeger (wife Jocelyn), Amy Welch (husband Dustin), Amy Watring (husband Tom), Sara Estes, Curtis Garrison and Tracy Garrison; eight cousins, Hunter, Peyton, Cassidy, Abby, Julia, Leah, Brittney and Kasey; and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Neva Schrag and her maternal great-grandmother, Sue Schrag.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Friday, September 6, 2019 with a prayer service conducted at 4:00 p.m. Friday in the Freeman Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 am Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Church with the Reverend Greg Oligschlaeger and the Reverend Joshua Duncan officiating. Graveside services will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
