Obituary for Tammy L. (Winget) Schmid

Tammy Lynn (Winget) Schmid, age 49, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the Capital Region Medical Center.

Tammy was born on October 15, 1969 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of James and Karen (Reams) Winget. She grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from Roosevelt High School

She was a manager at several convenience stores in Des Moines before moving to Jefferson City ten years ago. While in Jefferson City, she also helped manage several convenience stores.

Tammy met Kenneth Houser while living in Jefferson City and they became inseparable. She cherished the time they spent together and was thankful for the great memories they had together. Some of her favorite times were on camping trips with him.

She enjoyed reading, completing puzzles, baking and antiquing with her friends. She looked forward to the yearly trips to the Gulf of Mexico because she loved relaxing on the beach.

Survivors include: her significant other, Kenneth Houser of Jefferson City, Mo.; her mother, Karen Slye (husband Galen) of Conway, Mo.; her father, James Winget, Sr. (wife Judy) of Omaha, Arkansas; a sister, Sheri Windle (husband Russel) of Ozark, Mo; a half-brother, James Winget, Jr.; step-siblings, Matthew Chute, Susan Halfhill and Jaimeson Chute; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later time.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
