Obituary for William "Bo" Bentzen

William F. “Bo” Bentzen, age 62, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Friday, May 20, 2022 at his home.

He was born on August 16, 1959 in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of William Fredrick and Rose Mary (Mangold) Bentzen.

A resident of the central Missouri area, Bo was a Jefferson City High School graduate and earned his associates degree from Moberly Area Community College. He worked as a general laborer with several companies doing construction and carpentry work.

Bo loved sports and was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Rams. He loved to relax at home watching television, sipping a cold Busch Light, and delighted in traveling to see his daughter in Texas. Bo’s loved ones cherished his down to earth demeanor and his relatable sense of humor. He found happiness in the simple yet profound things in life, the support of his mother, the love he had for his daughter and his connection to the love of his life.

Survivors include: his mother, Rose Mary of Jefferson City, Mo.; his daughter, Meagan Holt (Mason) of Austin, Tx.; his high school sweetheart and partner of many years, Carol Beth Atchison of Jefferson City, Mo.; four siblings, Janis Bentzen Pederson of Overland Park, Ks., Jim Bentzen (Sharon) of Indio, Calif., Margie Bentzen Coltharp (Mark) of Bartlett, Tenn., and Dan Bentzen (Darla) of Jefferson City, Mo.; 11 nieces and nephews; and 17 great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, one sister, Kathy Bentzen Manes; brother-in-law, Dallas Manes; and one nephew, Dallas “Joey” Manes.

A visitation will be held in celebration of Bo’s life from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Freeman Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Heart of America chapter, 2405 Grand Blvd. Kansas City, MO 20814.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
