Obituary for William Johnson II

Mr. William Odell Johnson, II., age 41, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at his home.

Will was born on March 19, 1980 in Phoenix, Az., a son of Don Allen and Donna Kay (Hawkins) Johnson. He was married on August 22, 2003 in Clay County, Mo. to Nicole Lynn (Mallory) who survives at the home.

Will was baptized into the Catholic faith in 1989 and was very proud of and dedicated to his Catholic faith. He was a strong believer in Christ and knew there was a place for him in Heaven. He was sure of an eternity free of pain and suffering in the kingdom of God.

A longtime resident of the Central Missouri area, Will was a 1998 graduate of Eugene High School.

From 2009 until 2014, Will worked with Piston Automotive in North Kansas City as a supervisor. During this time, he also worked in construction serving the Kansas City area. In 2010, a job through the Laborer’s Union in Kansas City came available and as a lifelong Chiefs fan, Will was thrilled to help with the renovations on Arrowhead Stadium.

Will was very talented both artistically and musically. He used many mediums, but he really enjoyed drawing and painting and even won many first-place awards for his acrylic paintings. Will played the guitar, clarinet, drums, saxophone, and was a gifted singer. He enjoyed watching and playing sports, especially when he was able to cheer on the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. More than anything, Will loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Some of his favorite memories come from family gatherings where he grilled the best burgers and pork steaks around. To Will, there was no such thing as a stranger, just a world full of friends whose names he hadn’t learned yet.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Nicole; six siblings, Neal Johnson (wife, Kari) of Linn, Mo., Kathy Diggs (husband, John) of Eldon, Mo., Don “DJ” Johnson Jr. (wife, Heidi) of Fenton, Mo., Lorie Fitzgerald (husband, Sean) of Osborn, Mo., Terry Johnson (wife, Stacey) of Brazito, Mo., and Amanda Johnson of Wardsville, Mo.; two half-sisters, Rachel and Ramona Johnson; nieces and nephews, Luke, Logan, Chloe, Drayden, and Shianne.

Will was preceded in death by his father; his three angel babies; maternal grandparents, Don and Audie Hawkins; one uncle, Richard Gardner; and one cousin, David Gardner.

Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Jason Doke officiating.

Graveside service and interment will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Will’s memorial fund in care of Freeman Mortuary to assist with funeral expenses.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
