Obituary for Zemriya "Zem" Bright

Zemriya Chana “Zem” Bright, age 23, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, March 31, 2023, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Zem was born August 6, 1999, to Jason Ray and Amy Christian (Click) Bright.

From an early age, Zem was a hard-core animal lover with dogs stealing her heart. It was during her time in high school that she became close with a service dog, which helped shape her passion to become a dog trainer. In 2019, she graduated from Jefferson City High School.

After high school, Zem followed her dreams and became a certified dog trainer through the American Kennel Club (AKC). She has been operating her own dog training business, Bright Paws, and also was currently employed as a dog trainer at Steady Paws. Zem worked hard to earn several prestigious certifications and her dog, Chili Beans, received numerous certifications and awards.

When you think of Zem, memories flood of her love of dogs, gaming on the computer, sugar-free Blue Monster or coffee, and being outside in nature. She enjoyed time in Cody, Wyoming with her aunt and uncle, Sarah and Levi Johnson. This is where she loved horseback riding and even would take tourists on trailrides while staying there for the KOA. Besides animals she also enjoyed photography and making sculptural art.

A free spirit to say the least, she will be remembered as a beautiful soul so full of energy, very loyal to the ones she loved and happiest when she was fulfilling her dreams. Her motto was: Excellence requires you are never satisfied. She pursued life with the truth of that motto - she was always improving herself but was never judgmental of others.

Survivors include: her loving parents, Jason and Amy Bright of Jefferson City, Mo.; her daughter, Maria Amick; four brothers, Yeddy Bright of St. Charles, Mo., Micah Bright, Noah Bright and Nate Bright, all of Jefferson City, Mo.; grandparents, Warren Click, Pam Click and Michael Kennedy; her best friend and soul sister, Clara Schroer; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Her loving boyfriend, Ezra Schnieders, and her beloved dog, Chili Beans, also passed away with her in the car accident.

A Celebration of Zem’s Life will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Knights of Columbus, 1822 Tanner Bridge Rd., Jefferson City, Mo. 65101. A time-of-sharing will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Zemriya Bright Memorial Fund or by mailing donations to P.O. Box 95, Jefferson City, Mo. 65102.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary, 915 Madison St, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
