Bonnie Henrickson, age 94, of St. Joseph’s Neighborhood at Heisinger Bluffs, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from COVID-19, in Jefferson City, MO.

She was born in March of 1926 in South Dakota.

Bonnie received a bachelor’s degree in library science from the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities. She was proud to be part of the early generation of women receiving a college degree.

She later worked as a librarian at the James J. Hill Reference Library. It was here that she met Russell Henrickson whom she would marry on January 9,1954. She loved to recount Russell’s introduction where he asked her, “I know that the books in this library do not circulate but how about the librarian?”

After they married, Bonnie became a loving wife and homemaker who stayed home and raised their three children. She was a true red, white and blue girl who always displayed the American flag proudly. Bonnie was passionate about current events and following the news.

Survivors include: her two sons, Alden Henrickson and his wife Pamela of Holts Summit, MO; Drew Henrickson and his wife Michele of Lohman, MO; one daughter, Noelle Henrickson and her husband Steve Kersting of Topeka, KS; and six grandchildren, Aaron (Gina) Henrickson, Matthew (Laura) Henrickson, William Henrickson, Whitney Henrickson, Garrett Kersting, and Zack Kersting; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell M. Henrickson and her granddaughter, Amanda Henrickson.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2020 at Diane Peck Memorial Sanctuary at Riverview Cemetery with the Chaplain Jim Mueller officiating. The family has requested anyone in attendance to wear a protective mask.

A recording of Mrs. Henrickson’s graveside service will be posted to our website Monday afternoon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Missouri, 3501 Lansing Avenue, Columbia, MO 65201. Friends may also mail sympathy cards to the funeral home or leave condolences online to be given to her family.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary, 915 Madison Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
