Harold David Weimholt, age 84 years, of Ballwin, Mo., formerly of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019.

Harold was born on January 15, 1935, in Boonville, Missouri to Rose Helen Weimholt and Urban William Weimholt.

He attended St. Peter and Paul School in Boonville through twelfth grade and graduated in 1953. In 1955 Harold received his diploma in Architectural Drafting from the Chicago Technical College. He joined the United States Navy in 1955 and served until 1957. Upon return from the Navy, he moved to Jefferson City and began employment at Delong’s Inc. in steel design. It was in Jefferson City that he met Shirley Ann Adams, whom he married on October 23, 1965.

In 1966, Harold became a draftsman with the Missouri Department of Transportation and worked there until his retirement in 1990. After retirement, he returned to work for MoDOT part time until 2009. For many years, Harold also worked part time as a meat cutter for Kroger grocery store and independently contracted with businesses around the state of Missouri in steel design.

Once fully retired, he enjoyed riding bicycles on the Katy Trail, traveling with his wife, Shirley, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Harold was active in the community, serving on the Jefferson City Police Reserve Force for six years, participating in the building of homes with Habitat for Humanity, and volunteering as a park aide on the Katy Trail in the Missouri Volunteers in Parks Program. Harold was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and served as a member of the Perpetual Adoration prayer group.

Shirley, Pat and I were sorry to hear the news of Harold's death. He truly was a very giving, caring, gentle and helpful person...and talented in sports and other endeavors. I especially remember all the time we spent together working in my Dad's grocery store, especially weekends and holidays. Dad left he and I alone and in-charge of the store, "Day's Grocery", on some holiday afternoons, as we would be open from 3 to 6 PM. On a "slow" day, Harold and I would have a "chicken cutting up" contest to see who could cut-up the most chickens in a given amount of time...I think Harold usually won the contest....he did specialize in meat cutting, though, and I at the cash register. His brother, Bernard, and my two older sisters also preceded us at Dad's store. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Shirley, and your family, Dennis and Pat Day
