Thomas Levin, age 72, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by family.

Thomas was born on May 17, 1946 in Floral Park, New York, the son of Edwin and Winfred (Cook) Levin. He was married on May 13, 1972 at Homestead Air Force Base, Florida to Pamela Levin, who preceded him in death on March 22, 2014. He later married Dorothy Rooks in 2014 who survives in Bay, Missouri.

A graduate of Reseda High School, Thomas later went on to complete his Bachelor of Arts in General Studies from Columbia College. As an avid reader, a lifelong learner, and a vast fount of trivia, Thomas passed along his love and support of education, reading, and determination along to his children and others in his life.

Thomas was a proud soldier in the United States Army who retired after serving this country for over 20 years. As a Vietnam Veteran, his ability to speak 13 different languages, his willingness to move into different occupations within the United States Army, he was able to travel and live in many different locations of the United States and other parts of the world in service to his country.

After Thomas retired from the United States Army he moved to Mid-Missouri to embark upon the next phase of his life as he and Pam Levin became caretakers for a ranch, opened a restaurant and bookstore, and worked at AMF PlayMaster in Bland, MO. Later he became an employee of the State of Missouri in the Division of Facilities Management Design and Construction in Jefferson City in support of State Schools.

Thomas loved spending time with his family and friends. His love of the Lord led him to become a teacher and mentor in many church settings including Adult Sunday School and other home activities with families. He especially loved playing games with his family and friends such as Trivial Pursuit, Catch Phrase, and Pinochle. His other great love was his dog Sunshine.

Thomas was a very proficient and talented musician. He was able to not only play sheet music but also learn by hearing and perfect the song. He especially loved playing his guitar, banjo, and piano. He also enjoyed teaching others how to play these instruments.
